How It Works

It may feel like a miracle, yet behind the digital blood pressure monitor is simply THE science. Give it a few seconds to process your heart and review accurate results you can trust.

Photoplethysmography (PPG) with iPhone Camera

PPG is a widely utilized, clinically proven method that measures changes in blood volume through light. All you need is an iPhone camera and the tip of your finger to capture subtle blood flow patterns and translate them into accurate heart rate and HRV results.

Apple Watch Integration

The accuracy of the best health trackers is usually achieved when everything is connected. Let the heart rate variability monitor keep up with your every move. Apple Watch is a great supplement that may gather data and sync heart rate, oxygen levels, and workouts automatically. No need to input health information manually – your gadgets may do it on your behalf.

What We Calculate

Pulse checks are vital, but there are a few more indicators that may reveal that something is wrong inside your body. Heart Rate Monitor introduces:

  • Heart Rate (HR): The number of heartbeats per minute, measured in real time
  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV): The variation in time intervals between heartbeats
  • Stress & Readiness Levels: An estimate of physiological stress and the body’s reactivity
  • Oxygen Saturation (SpO₂): The possible percentage of oxygen-carrying hemoglobin in the blood
  • Workout Intensity & Zones: Classification of exertion levels based on heart rate
  • Trends & Long-Term Patterns: The continuous analysis of changes in baseline health, adaptation to training, and lifestyle shifts

When Not to Measure

After Caffeine or Alcohol

Stimulants found in addictive substances can raise heart rate and affect HRV.

Right After Exercise

As healthcare specialists state that post-exercise readings can be temporarily misleading.

With Cold Hands

Your limbs cannot lie. When blood flow is restricted by cold extremities, this may affect sensor precision for a while.

While Moving or Talking

Accurate results are possible at rest only when your body is calm and stable.

When Stressed or Rushed

Strong emotions, be they positive or negative, stress the body and can distort measurement results.

Every detail counts. For the most accurate results, it is always important to measure under the right conditions – skip them, and your results may be off.

Simple Color Coding

Standardized visual hints to categorize measured parameters into risk or readiness zones

Heart Metrics Explained

What HRV Is and Why It Matters

First come the basics: so as to stay healthy, it is vital to understand what you are dealing with. Heart Rate Variability (HRV), one of the core constituents of our pulse rate monitor, is a clinically recognized biomarker that reveals the gap between the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the autonomic nervous system. This, on its part, reflects how stable physiological and psychological functions are (including levels of stress, recovery, and overall flexibility).

Person A

HRV: 75 ms (moderate to high)

Profile: Active lifestyle, balanced sleep, low stress

Interpretation: Strong autonomic flexibility, good recovery, resilience to stressors

Person B

HRV: 40 ms (low)

Profile: High stress, irregular sleep, sedentary habits

Interpretation: Reduced autonomic flexibility, slower recovery, potential early signs of fatigue

How PPG Compares to ECG/Strap Sensors

PPG (Photoplethysmography) is what our pulse checker is based on. This technology employs optical sensors to detect the heart rate and measure HRV through the skin, while staying non-invasive and less sophisticated.

ECG and chest straps, from another perspective, directly measure electrical cardiac activity in a more effort-consuming way.

Known Limitations & Edge Cases

Although our team has developed the most accurate blood pressure monitor possible, it may still underperform in cases of low perfusion (cold hands, poor circulation), tattoos, or darker skin tones. Besides, intense exercises or emotional stress do affect the measurements, no matter how precise the app claims to be.

Boost Accuracy In an Instant

  • Measure at rest, while seated or lying down (free from stimulants, alcohol, or post-exercise states)
  • Ensure proper finger placement and minimal movement when using the iPhone camera
  • Maintain consistent environmental conditions (temperature, lighting) to reduce external noise

Urgent Help Notifications: If a measurement suggests potentially critical values, the app is to notify you immediately. Sometimes, it is about quick action, not long-term trends.

FAQs

No. This app is not a medical device and does not diagnose arrhythmias, atrial fibrillation (AFib), or any condition. It may only provide wellness metrics such as heart rate, HRV, and stress trends for further professional evaluation, which may complement (but never replace!) a medical approach.

No wearable is required, for the app allows one to employ their smartphone camera to measure the pulse. However, if you do have a wearable device, you can integrate the data collected for a more exhaustive view.

It is not recommended to evaluate your condition during intense physical activity (but while rested instead). High-intensity activity or rapid motion may interfere with sensor readings and reduce the accuracy for a while. Nevertheless, for exercise tracking, it can be beneficial to combine our app with wearables such as chest straps or sports watches for better results.

HRV (or Heart Rate Variability) is the metric that reflects the gap/balance between the sympathetic (“fight or flight”) and parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) branches of your nervous system. Higher HRV often indicates better recovery, resilience, and stress adaptation, while lower results may mean fatigue, overtraining, elevated stress levels, or reduced physiological flexibility.

Yes, but results may vary. PPG technology can sometimes be less accurate with very dark pigmentation, dense tattoos, or low-circulation areas (e.g., cold hands). Algorithms are being improved all the time, but consistency and proper measurement conditions are important.

You can easily export your data as a report or share it directly with healthcare professionals, coaches, or wellness platforms via the app. Follow the prompts and enjoy!

Different devices rely on different sensors and algorithms, which is obvious. Wrist-worn wearables often capture continuous data with motion artifacts, but camera-based PPG may only work when rested. Variations are inevitable, but overall trends across platforms should align anyway.

Just like with any other application, prolonged use of the flashlight may warm the phone, yet standard short readings (under 1–2 minutes) are safe enough to use. Avoid using lots of tools simultaneously, do not opt for back-to-back sessions, and charge it appropriately. A simple way to prolong your smartphone’s lifespan.

Yes, indeed; the app works on iPad models with a rear camera and flashlight. Nonetheless, it is better optimized for smartphones, which may provide a more convenient, user-friendly design and handling for finger-based measurements.
